Care & Achievement Coordinator

Every pupil has a Care & Achievement Coordinator for their Year Group, who oversees each child’s academic progress, attendance and wellbeing. They will also ensure your child receives effective and appropriate support to ensure they achieve their full potential. They will be your first point of contact should you need to contact us or if you have any queries. Our Care and Achievement Coordinators are available to be contacted by telephone, email and text message between 8:30am and 4:30pm every day, and will check messages regularly. Your child's Care and Achievement Coordinator will liaise with the Head of School, Form Tutors, teachers and other staff to ensure they receive the support they need to succeed.

Year Leader

The Year Leader's role is to ensure that all pupils in Year 7 settle well into school and make excellent progress. They also ensure that they receive the support and encouragement they need to succeed and achieve their potential.

Special Educational Needs Team

Our Special Educational Needs Team works with the Head of School and Care and Achievement Coordinator to ensure that all pupils receive the support they need to succeed. The team also runs the LEXIA programme for pupils who require additional support with literacy, as well as working with external agencies.

How can you support your child?

• Effective and sustained support from parents and carers is vital in helping pupils to succeed at school and achieve their potential. The most effective support parents and carers can offer on a regular basis is listed below:
• Talk to your child about school regularly to encourage and support them. In particular, talk about their day and what they have learnt. Asking them questions about their learning will help them to develop their understanding.
• Ensure your child has somewhere calm and peaceful to do their homework each evening. Set aside up to one hour each evening during which your child can complete their homework without distraction. If possible, be on hand to offer advice or talk through problems.
• Check your child’s Planner regularly, ideally each day to ensure homework is being recorded and to read any notes from your child’s Form Tutor or teachers.
• Check that your child has packed their school bag each morning, and that they have all the necessary equipment and books for the day ahead.
• Download and check the ClassCharts App/website regularly. Praise your child when they receive an award.
• Read and respond to School letters, attend all Parents’ Evenings and ensure your child’s attendance is good.
• Do contact your child's Care and Achievement Coordinator if you have any queries or concerns regarding your child’s attendance, wellbeing or progress at school.
