What do our Governing Board Committees do?

Below is a list of some of the activities and agenda items that are part of our committee meetings. The lists are not exhaustive but give some key insights into the role of our governors and how they hold the school to account here at Longcroft.

 

Strategy, Vision & Leadership Committee

  • Strong focus on the school development plan
    • Evaluates committee findings and resets committee agendas
  • Organisational requirements
    • Staffing numbers
    • Budget approval
    • Financial constraints
  • Approves the school SFVS
    • Drives part of the development plan requirements
    • Governing Body development plan and training
    • Reviews Pupil Premium expenditure

 

Financial & Premises Management Sub-Committee

  • Monitors actual spend against budget
  • Reviews and approves financial procedures
  • Reviews H&S legislation application
  • Reviews and approves premises related plans and procedures
  • Reviews and monitors actions from the SFVS
  • Feeds back to Full GB for formal approval

 

Achievement & Standards Sub-Committee

  • Monitor & review standards of teaching & learning
  • Monitor & review pupil premium and all disadvantaged groups
  • Approve & monitor curriculum policy
  • Reviews pupil progress and achievement
  • Reviews impact of the pupil premium spending
  • Feeds back to Full GB for formal approval

 

Wellbeing Sub-Committee

  • Approve and review staff policies
  • Review of safeguarding procedures
  • Monitors H&S data
  • Monitors pupil and staff attendance
  • Monitors pupil exclusion data
  • Staff and Governor CPD
  • Review of school website – information sharing
  • Review of complaints
  • Feeds back to Full GB for formal approval

 

Full Governing Body Meeting 

  • Formal approval of committee recommendations, school and LA policies, receives HT report
  • Contains many legislative requirements
  • Is the formal noting of approval route
  • Cross references reporting requirements of the HT delegation
  • Completes the cycle
  • Feeds back to SVL for continuous improvement
