Connecting with the World
29th November 2017
On 28th and 29th November, members of Mrs Lee’s Skype Club took part in a world Skype-a-thon, making contact with Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sandakan and Malaysia.
The students took part in Mystery Skype, a game where they have to guess the location from where someone is contacting them by asking questions that generate yes/no answers.
This sort of project helps students understand different cultures – for example Malaysia treated them to some national dancing in costume – whilst also helping to appreciate the things we all have in common.
Following this successful event, similar Skype sessions with schools from a wider range of countries are planned.
Thank you to Mrs Lee for organising this wonderful experience for our students – it illustrates how technology can be used to bring the world into a classroom and for students to make links with people from other countries they would not otherwise have access to.
