Year 7 and 8 Rugby League

04th November 2016

The Year 7 and 8 Rugby League V Beverley Grammar The Year 7 team had an outstanding 34 - 16 win against Beverley Grammar on Wednesday. It was an excellent performance by the whole squad with 22 players all taking the field at some point during the game.

Longcroft took the lead with tries from Sam Shrimpton and Bailey Jenkinson. Ben Lazenby crashed over for a try before Chris Whomsley did the same again. Conversions from the impressive Sam Bayes and Joe Dobson gave Longcroft a 16-4 Half time lead.

With wholesale changes at half time, Longcroft continued with some good play from Sam Bayes, who was making his debut after a spell on the side-lines with a shoulder injury. Second half tries came from Tierney Chilcott and a second to Sam Shrimpton, and goals by Bayes and Dobson finishing off another impressive performance by the year 7 team.

The year 8 team turned out for their first game of the season and gave a good account against Beverley Grammar, but lost 10 tries to 5. Year 7 boys Charlie Goldsmith and Adrian King volunteered to help them out as they were a couple of players short. Both boys did well and in particular Adrian showed some outstanding tackling and scored a try on his first game for Longcroft - it looks that this won't be his last!

There were some impressive performances and trys from Jimmy Windass, Harrisons McGregor, Oliver Adnit, Adam Scanlon and Jevon Mills to complete a great night of rugby. Well done to everyone that took part!
