Key Stage Four

We operate a three year Key Stage 4 (Years 9, 10 and 11) – students choosing options from a range of subjects prior to Easter in Year 8.

Students have traditionally chosen four options to study alongside the following:

  • GCSE English Language
  • GCSE English Literature
  • GCSE Maths
  • GCSE Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined)

These are done so alongside other aspects such as:

  • Citizenship
  • Physical Education
  • Religious Education

Option choices include

  • GCSE History
  • GCSE Geography
  • GCSE Music
  • GCSE PE
  • OCR Sports Studies
  • GCSE Dance
  • GCSE Drama
  • GCSE Technology (Food, Textiles, Product Design)
  • GCSE Computing Science
  • BTEC Digital Information Technology
  • GCSE Religious Education
  • GCSE Languages (French, Spanish)

From September 2016, to increase curriculum time available to subjects chosen as options, Year 8 will choose three subjects. In addition, Science has been removed from the options available, with the decision to study the three separate sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) being made during Year 10.
